Hello,

I am Dr. Jose DeAnda. I opened my practice in Elk Grove in 2022 but had a prior practice in Sacramento which began in 2002. My work in psychology has included being a lecturer, professional training director, consultant, and a clinical psychologist. My work -- like most clinicians, has included the treatment of depression and anxiety (in all the forms that they take) substance abuse, relational issues, and severe mood and psychotic disorders. I have worked with perpetrators and victims of violent crimes both in and out of prison. I have experience working with the diversity of people the Sacramento area presents. I have worked with clients as young as 10 and as old as 83. Most recently I was working in corrections which added another level of diversity and complexity I hadn't yet experienced. I have experience working with retired military and police officers and other forms of first responders including , those providing mental health services and medical care to the community. I have experience with learning disabilities and attention deficit assessment and the consequences of leaving these disabilities unaddressed. I have worked with those in many forms of transitioning including preparing for Gender Affirming Surgery, preparing to marry, to return to college, or even preparing to die. I have been very fortunate that a great variety of people have shared their lives and experiences with me and allowed me the opportunity to help them at whatever stage of life they are in. My session style is casual and conversational. I genererally try to balance the intensity of the sessions to allow the greatest movement forward with the lowest risk of harm.
